Workforce Development Boards
Workforce Development Boards in North Carolina are public-private
partnerships that administer and monitor employment training and
placement initiatives. These locally managed boards are comprised
of local citizens from business, government, economic development
and community groups who best understand the local training and
employment needs for the Board's region.
The Boards adminster funding and direct programs designed to address
the local training and employment needs. These include the
JobLink Career Centers in each county, youth programs and other
initiatives. There are 24 Workforce Development Boards in
North Carolina -- some are single county boards, some cover several
counties in a region.
